LOST IN LOVE- What is it really?
So today was a theme of love... I have no idea why. It's all I heard today in class, in conversations that I heard, and on the web while I was browsing. I'm not talking about our quick sudden impluse of emotion that our world thinks is love and gets so confused with. Our English language becomes so limited when using this word... "we love icecream," "we love our sister," "we love our spouse." In our own minds we understand, but sometimes it does get confusing. In the Greek there are four kinds of loves. The famous author C.S. Lewis writes a book called "The Four Loves." They are: agapĂȘ (love, charity), philia (friendship, love), storgĂȘ (natural affection), and eros (attraction, sexual love). It makes much more sense to me when using Greek in describing the word and the language of love.
I saw a clip today that is from one of my favorite movies, Moulin Rouge. I love it (haha) because it's main theme is about love... a love that I have never experienced. The central idea to the movie is this..."The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." That right there covers my life in all aspects. Love...love people. Love the people around you, it is the greatest gift you can give anyone. It may even be a smile as you walk by a stranger on the street or the homeless man standing on the corner. I still have yet to learn how to love.... to love deeply. I am so young and have so much to learn.
The one thing about love though is that it does not expect anything back. It is selfless and selfgiving. It is beyond its self. To say these words are easier than putting them into action. Go back and really read 1 Corinthians 13, the famous love chapter in the Bible. If we have everything but love, guess what we are? Nothing.
Love is such a broad subject for it encompasses so many elements such as kindness, grace, humility, etc. There is so much about it.... see why I have so much to learn? So I will leave you with this, a quote that I found on Shawn McDonald's website (he is an awesome music artist). Let it inspire you to live a life of love.
"WE ARE CREATED BY LOVE, TO LIVE LOVE, FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE." -GERALD MAY

I couldn't have said it better myself...when people look at you Liisa, they see Jesus. I thought you should know that. Keep running the race for Him. And you will attain the prize (and you know what the coolest part about that is? He will impact, in a positive way, other's lives in the process!)
